October has been an exciting month in the art studio at QISS! Students had their first "Studio Days", learned about proper facial proportions, created patterns, painted on canvas, learned about foreground and background, learned about warm and cool color schemes, and experimented with colored pencils, clay, and printmaking techniques!! (That was a mouthful!) We were very busy being artists, and now, as we work our way into our new inquiry for Q2 (check the Newsletter page for more info), students will be encouraged to explore the many mechanical, technological and artistic advances throughout art history. Each grade level will explore the art innovations differently, but we will all have fun a learning how our ancestors have influenced the art that we make today.
INKTOBER! As our Inktober Challenge comes to an end, make sure you stop by the art room to see the bulletin board full of wonderful student sketches! If you don't know what Inktober is, check out the newsletter or ask any student in grades 4,5, or 6!
Beginning in November- There will be a new Art challenge posted to this website each month! These challenges will be to advance skills of students and provide extra practice to build artistic techniques. Students won't be required to participate in this challenge, but extra credit will be awarded to students who do. Participation guidelines and requirements to receive the extra credit points will be outlined in the challenge post, so READ CAREFULLY!
