As November begins, we are steadily learning more ways to make art. The younger students are learning to make marks in clay while the older students are learning about all the different kinds of printmaking. Students continue to focus on learning the Elements of Art and Principles of Design.
After the success of our Inktober Challenge last month, students will be able to participate in a monthly challenge for extra credit! That being said... this month we celebrate Thanksgiving. In the spirit of this holiday where we are encouraged to give thanks, students read the book The Giving Tree by Shel Silverstein. After reading this story, students need to create their own artwork inspired by The Giving Tree. This story does have its own illustrations, but students need to create their own original artwork, in their own unique style. Students can create any kind of artwork. That means they can create a sculpture, drawing, painting, etc. In order to get full credit for the challenge, students must follow the rules listed below:
